WOVEMBER 2012 COMPETITION
Back in October we launched the WOVEMBER 2012 competition, inviting folks to submit blog-posts to be featured throughout WOVEMBER 2012. We received a handful of lovely contributions, but realised that what you really liked last year was uploading your WOOL photos and thinking about the meaning of WOOL throughout WOVEMBER rather than beforehand! After all, the weather’s only just turned cold enough for full WOOL-wearing to commence!
Jenni Byers, in FULL WOOL mode last WOVEMBER!
Because Blacker Yarns, Kate Davies, Finisterre, Shearer Girl Yarns, the WOVEMBER brooch factory, and Brenda Dayne have all contributed to the prize pot, we are in the position of being able to offer prizes in 2 categories, which means we are again running THE WOVEMBER PHOTO COMPETITION throughout the month! GET SNAPPING!
PHOTO SUBMISSION CATEGORY (now open!)
1st prize – A copy of the LAYTER pattern by Felicity Ford, and enough yarn from the Natural Fibre Company to make it in the colourway that the sample was knit with (includes yarn made from 10 different British Sheep breeds, and up to 14 different colours)
2nd prize – One of the scarves produced by Finisterre from Lesley Prior’s Bowmont sheep AKA British Merino sheep
3rd prize – £20 voucher to spend in the Shearer Girl Yarns online shop

To submit a photo to the WOVEMBER 2012 GALLERY, please read the following carefully!
This year Wovember will be focussed on closing the gap between producers and consumers of yarn. The month of November will feature a sequence of woolly contents on the Wovember site, divided into 5 sections:
*growing wool
*harvesting wool
*processing wool
*working with wool
*wearing wool
A range of specific people have been invited to contribute guests posts for each section, but in addition to this, YOU are warmly invited to help shape the celebration! You can submit a photo relating to ANY of the five topics in the list, (photos should be 1024 pixels wide and saved as jpegs where possible, but if you aren’t sure how to resize images, please email your photos anyway – preferably the largest size you have rather than a tiny image)
…submissions should be emailed to wovember[at]gmail[dot]com with the section category as the email title, your name as you wish to be credited on the actual website, and any notes or quotes you wish to accompany your picture. Submissions will be uploaded to the gallery by TEAM WOVEMBER throughout Wovember, and – as with last year – winners will be selected in early December.
There are so many ways to close the gap! Submissions will be chosen based on their overall WOOL factor; how you interpret the idea of closing the gap is up to you, but for inspiration, you might want to look at the winning photographs from last year’s photo competition and read about how the winners were shortlisted.
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE, and here’s to A WARM AND WOOLLY WOVEMBER! Please feel free to republish this announcement, and to put the Wovember site badge on your site in celebration of WOOL!
