The lure of the sheepy images are great and this one by Siri has a lovely angle which feels like looking on the animals from the vantage point of a shepherd. Beautiful.

This photo by Opallady is just full of lovely textures… the long ringlets of the Wensleydale sheep; the sensation of damp air; and the threadlike edges of the trees losing their leaves to autumn.

And who can resist these lambs with their mothers, also photographed by Opallady?

Swatch for my #vestvemberkal Fair Isle vest. I need to work on the colors in the light gray/green stripe, as they're not contrasting enough, but I LOVE that green. I may switch to green background with a white design. #knitting #knit #fairislefriday #fairisleknitting #wool #wovember2015 #projectsweaterchest

These two projects by Liz really seem to capture the colours of wool growing in the landscape – the greens, greys, creams and golds of pastures and fields with sheep on them. And there is a sense of a continuity of colour and theme in how flowers and patterns flow from the Fair Isle swatch into the embroidered tam.

This blanket by Josh Moll celebrates wool in another way, by piecing together and reusing every precious scrap of the stuff to make a new and special whole.

One of the hardest things to capture on camera is the tactile appeal of wool… but this photo by Francesca does a really superb job of making you want to reach right into the photo and squoosh.

This photo by Viktoria perfectly captures both the labour of working with wool and the exacting pinch required to draft woollen fibres between one’s fingers when spinning. I can almost feel that wool on my fingertips.

Michelle’s beautiful photo of this fleece also seems to invite a knitterly touch, and the caption Fleece dreams/dream fleece seems to exactly summarise the mixture of appreciation and anticipation evoked by really good raw wool.

Finished (apart from a few ends) my gloriously squishy garter stitch striped blanket, made from a mixture of British breeds like Herdwick, Llanwennog & Shetland, and a load of Icelandic Lopi which I had in my stash. #wovember2015 #knitting #knitter #wool #winterknitting #knittersofinstagram #knitstagram

Finally, on this dark and dingy November evening, there is something incredibly reassuring about this sturdy blanket.
